The 20-Minute Magic: Uncovering $12,400 in Monthly Value

I'm going to show you how I find important keywords for a random Shopify website in just 20 minutes. It's funny because many website owners don't even spend that much time on keyword analysis.

To pick a random site, I downloaded a list of 3,000 Shopify websites and then chose one by picking a random number between 1 and 3,000.

So, let's get started! The site we're looking at sells morale patches and is fairly new.

Morale patches

My Keyword Analysis Process

1) Search Volume 🔍: How many people are searching for a keyword each month? Is it a growing trend or stable?

2) Competition 🏆: Who's ranking on the first page for that keyword? Are they easy targets or digital giants?

3) Winning Strategy 🚀: How can we dominate that keyword? What are the winning ideas?

4) Inclusion Criteria ✔️: Does the keyword meet our internal criteria for inclusion?

5) Next Keyword ➡️: After inclusion, what's the next keyword to analyze? Often, it's related or broader.

In my example, I focused on "Morale Patches" Here's what I found:

  • Search Volume: A healthy 14,800 searches per month.

  • Competition: Medium difficulty – a feasible challenge.

  • Winning Strategy: On-Page SEO, Backlinks, High-Quality Content, possibly a YouTube video.

👀 First 8 minutes & first impressions

Good news for Morale Patches: There's a significant search volume of 14,800 monthly searches. The competition in the top 10 results isn't too tough, making it a medium-difficulty keyword.

I've found a young website with only 15 articles that's already attracting 10,000+ visitors. We have a good shot at surpassing them. They rank for "military hat," which isn't our product, but it's related. People interested in military hats might also like morale patches.

Next, I'm analyzing the top-ranking Shopify site for morale patches. It has 100+ product pages but lacks a blog and robust SEO. I still have 12 minutes to delve deeper.

📈 Remaining 12 minutes & strategy

In the next 12 minutes, I’ve identified 9 keywords and strategies for success.

  1. "Morale Patches” with 14,800 searches, medium difficulty; strategy includes On-Page SEO, Backlinks, and compelling content, maybe a YouTube video.

  2. Funny Morale Patches” with 1,300 searches, stable trend, low ads cost, and an easy level of competition suggests creating a collection page and maybe a blog.

  3. "Funny Morale Patches" with 1,300 monthly searches, it's easy to target with a collection page and maybe a blog.

  4. "What is a Morale Patch?" is easy to rank for with stable trends and no specified ad costs, and the strategy is similar to "morale patches.

  5. "Custom Morale Patches” with 1,000 searches, it's a stable trend but poses a complex challenge; our idea is to create a dedicated page for inquiries.

  6. "Military Morale Patch" with a search volume of 590, stable trend, and low difficulty, consider creating a collection page and exploring content about famous military morale patches.

  7. "Velcro Patches" has 22,200 searches, stable growth, and medium difficulty; consider a collection page and start a blog.

  8. "What is the Military Hat Called?" with 8,100 searches, stable trend, and low difficulty suggests creating a detailed blog post, maybe with a YouTube video.

  9. "What is an Army Hat Called?" has 6,600 searches, is stable with a slight decline, and is easy to target with a detailed blog post and possible YouTube video.

Based on these 9 keywords, I estimate we could gain around 499 new monthly customers in this niche. While it's based on some assumptions, it's a useful reference for budgeting.

SEO-Driven Paying Customers/month: 499 💼
Customer Lifetime Value: $25 💰
Monthly Value Estimate: $12,471 💵

In my opinion, this niche looks promising, especially for a new site. Competitors are relatively manageable, and they don't seem highly skilled in SEO. Additionally, Google ads appear cost-effective.
