📍 How Does Semantic Search Work?
Imagine your customers typing into the search bar just like they're having a conversation with a friend. Semantic Search takes this conversational approach and runs with it. Instead of being limited to specific keywords, customers can now express their needs and desires in natural language.
Here's the magic: Shopify's AI is like a super-smart assistant, ready to decode what your customers are looking for. Whether they're searching for a specific product or just browsing, Semantic Search understands their intent and delivers spot-on results.
But here's where it gets really cool: even if your customer makes a typo or uses vague language like "something," Semantic Search has their back. It's like having a search buddy who can read between the lines. So even if they're not sure exactly what they want, Semantic Search can still point them in the right direction.
With Semantic Search, your customers can search with confidence, knowing that they'll always find what they're looking for—even if they're not quite sure how to ask for it. So say goodbye to frustrating searches and hello to a smoother, more intuitive shopping experience!
💰️ How Will It Bring More Conversion?
Semantic search can significantly boost conversions on your e-commerce website by enhancing the overall shopping experience for your customers in several key ways:
1. Improved Relevance
Semantic search understands the intent behind user queries, ensuring that the search results are highly relevant to what the customer is looking for. By presenting products that align closely with the customer's needs and preferences, semantic search increases the likelihood of conversion.
2. Enhanced Personalization
By analyzing the context and meaning of search queries, semantic search can deliver personalized results tailored to each customer. This personalized experience makes customers feel understood and valued, increasing their trust in your brand and ultimately leading to higher conversion rates.
3. Better User Experience
A seamless and intuitive search experience is crucial for keeping customers engaged and guiding them towards making a purchase. Semantic search streamlines the search process by accurately interpreting user queries and presenting relevant results, making it easier for customers to find what they're looking for and complete their purchase.
4. Reduced Friction
Traditional keyword-based search engines often produce irrelevant or inaccurate results, leading to frustration and abandonment. Semantic search minimizes friction by delivering precise and meaningful results, reducing the likelihood of customers leaving your site without making a purchase.
5. Increased Customer Satisfaction
When customers can quickly and easily find the products they want, they're more likely to have a positive shopping experience. Semantic search enhances customer satisfaction by providing accurate, relevant, and personalized results, leaving customers satisfied with their purchase and more likely to return in the future.
In summary, semantic search improves relevance, enhances personalization, provides a better user experience, reduces friction, and increases customer satisfaction—all of which contribute to higher conversion rates and ultimately drive revenue growth for your e-commerce website.
🔧 How Do I Activate Semantic Search On My Shopify Store?
Requirements
The feature is currently available on storefront search for Plus merchants with English storefronts and fewer than 200,000 products.
Your store must use Shopify's native search results. If you are using search syntax or an app to generate search results, you won't see the output of semantic search.
Opt-in
In the Shopify Search & Discovery app, click Settings.
Scroll to the Search relevance section.
Optional: To test the feature, click Try it out. A theme preview opens with Semantic Search activated.
Click Turn on to activate Semantic Search.
